Election Day Nov 8, 2006 5:43 am

i'm so HAPPY that it's FINALLY over (until next year when the mayor runs for his 4th re-election campaign). ALL the negative ads off the air ...all the fliers stuffed in my mailbox - in the trash ...and those who won - well as politics goes, they stay out of our lives until they are up for re-election.

election day here in Chicago can get very negative. so negative that you won't know the truth when you hear it. mudslinging is the norm and if a candidate is connected to someone under a federal probe - he/she better be prepared to answer some tough questions.

i did do my civic duty and voted for the candidates i thought deserve my vote. Whether or not they keep their promises - that's up to them.

On air and live in studio Nov 4, 2006 6:38 am

That's what happened to me yesterday. I was on air and live in studio with my friends Blackbox, a very cool 2-guy rock band, celebrating their 1st anniversary at the Fearless Radio studio. It was wild and crazy madness as they packed the studio with friends(most of them underage teens who cannot see their shows) and family for a private acoustic broadcast. I took my daughter and 2 of her friends with me since they had no school yesterday. Oh they had fun being on air ...drinking sodas and all the junk food they could eat during the 2hr show. Plus they received autographs pics of the band, guitar picks and took pictures with Blackbox and the guys from Perfect Red(another cool rock band)after the show was over. I took pictures of the broadcast and will have them ready soon.

Well back to work tonight - doing an unplugged rock show with my good friends, Disonic (being a concert reviewer you get be good friends with the bands you meet ...sometimes i get in free or free drinks).

Halloween night Nov 1, 2006 9:59 am

as a concert reviewer, i've seen the best and worse, strange and weird in many shows around town however on Halloween this band pulled all the stops to entertain and please their legions of fans and audience. i personally have seen their shows 3 times and each one differs from the last.

last night - it was a crazed mayhem and a good rockin' time. the band, Cealed Kasket, always put on an awesome gothic/vampire performance ...and you're not watching the show - you are part of the show too. wenches from the audience get to dance on stage with the band ...plastic swords and crowns(to join 1 of the 3 teams: gold, red, and brown ...i'm a loyal red crown wearer) are handed out - will explain about that in a minute ...dueling electric guitar battle ...drinking contests and much more.

oh about the crowns - you have to choose your team and choose wisely because if your team wins, Mortal Death (the lead singer) will do a special song near the end of the show. and the Red team won!

oh what a night!

need more sleep too...

before Halloween and through the town
not one kid was stirring
only the fierce winds blowin' around.

they were all snugged in their beds
with plenty of visions of
chocolates and candy corns stuck in their heads.

as the moon rose across the field
while looking out my window
the Great Pumpkin with his huge sack of goodies

*giggles*

well another Halloween is upon us which means Christmas season starts November 1st

*yikes*

*weeping*

that's the sound i make every year when the catalogs for the holiday season show up in my mailbox.

have a safe and fun time, trick o treating, friends. i'll be working at a gothic/vampire show - will tell you all about it on Wednesday

About me Oct 29, 2006 9:03 pm

in a nutshell, i'm 37yrs old mother of 2 daughters living in Chicago however that's one side of me. on the other side of the coin, i'm a rock-n-roll chick covering the local independent music scene for an internet radio station. don't ask how i balance the demands of being mommy and a rock chick with deadlines every week ...i merely just do it and amazingly without any stress.

my children (especially my teen) are my biggest supporters in this new venture of my life. they love hearing my "adventures" at the many concerts i've covered from a gothic/vampire to heavy metal to a recent Halloween bash over the weekend - you can say i've seen it all.

well back to finishing my reviews...

it's a neverending cycle but i love it!
